  • Henry Alford Koonce, died August 14, 2016. Henry was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on December 15, 1931, oldest son of William Earl and Altabelle Daniels Koonce. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained there. He is a life member of the VFW.

    Henry worked as a machinist in several states, retiring from J.A. Riggs Caterpillar in Little Rock in 1988. He and wife Shirley moved to Hot Springs Village in 1990, and he enjoyed golf, fishing and traveling around the U.S. He is a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Village Breakfast Lions, Village Animal Shelter and Democratic Club. Unfortunately, medical problems put a halt to these pleasures in the last three years.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, former wife Rose Rother, brothers Edward and Daniel and sister Earline Dome. He is survived by Shirley Bartlett-Koonce, sisters Alberta Tomlin of Arizona and Betty Fay Koonce of Missouri, children: AnnaMarie Ramirez of Wisconsin, Linda Koonce of Joliet, Illinois, Henry W. Koonce of Florida, Theresa Ceballos and Shirley Koonce of Maumelle. Lawerence/Robin Bartlett of Monett, Missouri, Michael/Sue Bartlett of Kentucky, Joan Courtney, James/Dian Bartlett, and Kelly Bartlett of Little Rock, Ann/Jim Slaughter of Azle, TX and many grandchildren.

    A Memorial Service will be at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, August 27th at CedarVale Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Blackmon officiating.

    The family would like to send out special thanks to the Staff at Dierksen Hospice and National Park Medical Center.

    Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to CedarVale Funeral Home.
